| Search for Art Patriotic Posters The Light of 9/11 By Avis Ward My answer to unbearable emotional pain is to do what I have been taught to do for as long as I can remember. "Casting all your cares upon him; for he careth for you."(I Peter 5:7) I believe it was never meant for us to bear the burdens of life, but rather, to share them with Him who knows us so well. Believing this, the events unfolding that dreadful day were handled no other way. I cast my cares through prayer and gratitude. I still do. In an attempt to forever find light where there is darkness, I remember the darkness of that day too well. We know darkness and light cannot occupy the same space at the same time. The Light of 9/11 will forever be the feeling of the heart, soul and Spirit of all Americans. I had never before witnessed the cohesiveness of our nation. We were one nation, one race, and one people, indivisible, under God… Proud Americans! We extended unusual courtesies toward fellow Americans. We bought and displayed American flags and other patriotic symbols on our vehicles and lawns. Everywhere, really! We unashamedly embraced each other to give each other comfort. We felt connected to the heroes, victims, survivors, their families and friends. We stood united and brave. Cowards wanted to paralyze us with fear but we were stronger than the steel beams of the Twin Towers. There was no meltdown of our human spirit. There was no tumbling of our human will. We were millions strong praying for God to Bless America! And He did. He still does. Jesus is the Light of the world and America is the light among all nations. That dreadful day brought Americans together as one family. "America, sweet America, God shed His grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea." © 2006 Avis Ward Avis Ward is an aspiring writer who enjoys writing about her spirituality, self-improvement, relationships, and women's issues. http://avisward.com/ or Avis Ward. |
