The American Foxhound is a good choice for people who live in rural areas or on large farms. In this country it has four very different purposes:

• Field trial hounds

• Fox hunting hound

• Trail hounds

• Pack hounds

The Foxhound dates back to the early 1700's in Virginia and Maryland.

The following information is offered to help you decide if the American Foxhound breed is right for you, your family and lifestyle. The descriptions are also meant to fit a dog true to the breed standard.
